Samhain marks a time of great transition, as we shed the busyness of summer and make space for the parts of ourselves that need a bit more slowness to hear. Join us for an afternoon of learning about natural dye as a ritual practice and way of connecting with the seasons. We will gather in community to work with two beloved autumnal plants, marigolds and black walnuts, and learn the basics of natural dyeing, from building a dye bath to demystifying the mordanting process which allows a dye to set. A mordanted bandana and variety of scrap fabrics will be provided for each person to dye and experiment with, with mordanted undies available for purchase. We will also get to name what we are letting go of out loud, and play with black walnut ink to write intentions for this more internal season. Beginners and seasoned dyers alike are warmly welcome.
